Papers of an economist, Wisconsin tax commissioner (1959-1963), postmaster general (1963-1965), ambassador to Poland (1965-1968), and educational administration (1969- ). Included are correspondence, memoranda, reports, policy papers, speeches (some in recorded form), minutes, special assistants' files, and press material pertaining to Gronouski's tenure as postmaster general as well as some files pertaining to that of his predecessor J. Edward Day (1961-1963). Relating to Gronouski's tenure as ambassador are unclassified correspondence with friends, Poles, legislators and U.S. governmental officials, and many members of the Polish-American community; speeches; schedules; and files pertaining to diplomatic travel, entertainment, and expenses. Also included are many translations from the Polish-American press by Walter Zachariasiewicz and two cartons of translations from the Polish press done by embassy staff. On the Humphrey for President campaign for which Gronouski worked in a leadership position are correspondence, schedules, speeches, press material, statistics, and clippings. Miscellaneous materials include fragmentary correspondence and writings pertaining to his tenure as Wisconsin tax commissioner, biographical clippings, memorabilia, and photographs.
